On 16th January 2027, AB Workshops welcomes Leo P, the internationally renowned baritone saxophonist and electrifying performer best known for Too Many Zooz, for an exclusive one-day saxophone workshop in Manchester.
Meet Your Workshop Leader: Leo P
Leo Pellegrino, better known as Leo P, is one of the most distinctive and exciting baritone saxophonists of his generation.
A graduate of the Manhattan School of Music, Leo first captured global attention performing in the New York City subway with Lucky Chops and Too Many Zooz. Their high-octane “Brass House” style went viral, turning subway performances into an international touring phenomenon. Renowned for combining formidable technique with extraordinary movement, showmanship, and a unique visual style, Leo has fundamentally redefined what is possible on the instrument.
His extraordinary career spans global stages, film, and major media features, including:
- Collaborator with Beyoncé on Lemonade and live at the CMA Awards
- Featured artist on “Warriors” by Too Many Zooz—named BBC Song of the Week and featured in an international commercial for the Google Pixel 2
- Featured soloist at the BBC Proms tribute to Charles Mingus at London’s Royal Albert Hall. His rendition of Moanin’ became a defining moment of his career, with Seen and Heard International praising his “sheer physical agility” and declaring that “he brought the house down.”

2. Scales, Improvisation & Essential Practice Routines
A general class on scales and improvisation.
Effective Practice Routines: A deep dive into fundamental habits—including long tones, breath control, and tone projection—tailored so players of all skill levels can build real technical control.
3. Signature Masterclass: “Solo House Sax”
In this class we will break down Leo P’s signature style, Solo House Sax. The most notable representation of this style is in the Intro to “Moanin” at the BBC Proms. Solo House Sax finds its roots in Brass House music, a genre co-crafted by Matt Doe, Leo P, and the King of Sludge from Too Many Zooz. In instances where Matt Doe was absent, Leo P found himself compelled to construct all the melodic elements, leading to the formation of Solo House Sax. This musical genre blends acoustic elements with electronic dance music, highlighting a singular melodic instrument often accompanied by drums.
Style Mechanics: Explore its rhythmic nuances, melodic notes, and the distinctive effects that collectively define this captivating musical style.
Live Drums: Leo will be joined by a live drummer for this session, bringing the rhythmic foundations of Solo House Sax to life and giving participants the opportunity to explore the style with live drums.
4. Movement & Saxophone Dance Class
Performance in Motion: Learn how to combine virtuosic playing with physical movement, stage presence, and dance.
Body Mechanics: Practical techniques for maintaining air support, tone, and agility while moving on stage.
5. Interactive Participation & Final Wrap-Up
Hands-On Playing: Interactive participation integrated throughout the day across all modules.
Final Q&A: A concluding open floor session to review key takeaways, ask final questions, and recap the day’s learnings.

Regardless of your current level, we here at AB Workshops are committed to providing tuition and support at a pace that allows you to absorb salient points while good progress and motivation is maintained.
What do we mean by “grades” as a measuring tool? We use the ABRSM/Trinity “classical” syllabus, but in most respects this applies to the Jazz grades as well. If you haven’t taken any grades then please contact us to discuss suitability. Also, it's a requirement to be able to comfortably play your scales with 3 sharps/flats.
